We recommend just creating a purchase order with these items listed, and then just "receiving" the purchase order (without actually sending it off) and setting the cost as $0.
Naturally, this will affect your COGS, but this isn't wrong - you didn't pay anything for the stock, so your COGS for this month will look a lot better. Yay!
