We'll use Kegs as an example:
- We recommend creating a stock item called 'Keg Deposit' and include the name of the product in each title so you know which keg the deposit is for (Stock>Manage>Stock Items>clicking Add New Item>clicking Add Custom Item). Assign it to any category under Beverage, pick a default supplier, and save it. You can set the Count and Order unit as Each.
- When you receive a purchase order from a supplier, you can add that stock item to that order and enter the correct price for newly delivered kegs.
- When that deposit is credited back to you, head to Stock>Ordering>click New Credit Request>add the Keg Credit>click Generate Credit request. Then click Receive next to it>enter the Quantity as 1 and the Value as the value of the credit note from the supplier, then click Credit Goods. This will naturally reduce your Beverage COGs, but not affect any Stock item pricing.
Note: We do recommend stocktaking keg & crate deposits so you can keep track of whether the supplier is correctly crediting you for all the charges.
