Loaded has a master list of almost every unit for every possible setup, we recommend contacting our support team via the Help link in your account to check if there is a suitable unit for your situation prior to setting up any custom units.
-
You need stock permission to create and edit units. If you can't complete this, ask someone with Managers permission to update your user permissions.
- We highly recommend visiting our best practice stock setup grid before setting up your stock items.
There are hundreds of preset units that exist in Loaded already so as you start to type & search for these many of them will show up automatically. However, not every single unit will show so sometimes you'll need to create custom units in order to use them as the order by, count by or recipe unit.
As a general rule Loaded uses 3 unit types, weights (Kg/g), volumes (Litre/mL) & counts (e.g. 24 pack/Each) Loaded can convert perfectly within these unit types but will run into trouble if you're using inconsistent unit types across a stock item. E.g. If we order a certain wine by the 6 Pack. We then need to use count units in all stocktakes, orders, recipes & POS links for that item. We can't order by 6 pack then using 150mL in a recipe or link as the count unit 6 pack & the volume unit 150mL aren't convertable. In this instance we could also use the custom units feature to add a unit called e.g. 6 Pack Wine and add it as a Volume with a ratio of 4.5 Litres. That way we can order in 6 Pack Wine (which is now a volume) and use volumes in recipes, links & our stocktake.
Adding Custom Units:

A new unit will pop up at the bottom of the custom units list
-
Rename the unit to your desired volume/weight/pack size

-
Input the ratio of your unit type for the new unit
-
It will automatically save as you update the details (see example below)
